 Quest “English Race”

(The contest for senior pupils)

The aim: to develop pupils speaking, reading, listening skills through various activities; to develop pupils group communicative skills; to organize pupils creative work in expanding their vocabulary; to stimulate pupils creativity in presentation of their team; to develop creative imagination and logical thinking; to foster the interest for learning and discovering new things; to broaden their outlook; to develop pupils interest to English.

Equipment: a tape-recorder, cassettes, CDs, cards with tasks (riddles, tests), books, sports equipment, maps, a schoolbag with school things, “the golden chips”.

Procedure

Правила проведення гри.

1.      Команди складаються із семи учасників. Члени команди обирають капітана. Команда готує привітання, яке має складатися з трьох-чотирьох речень та художнього номера(пропонується заспівати пісню англійською мовою).У команді може бути восьмий учасник - «фоторепортер»- людина, що буде знімати, фотографувати, але не втручатиметься у виконання завдань.

2.      Під час «перегонів» кожна команда буде отримувати певні загадки й завдання; мета команди - виконати завдання якнайшвидше і прийти до фінішу першою. Однак виконувати завдання треба не тільки швидко , але й якісно.

На старті кожна команда отримує п’ять « золотих фішок»  і повинна донести їх до фінішу. Команда втрачає «фішку», якщо під час виконання усного завдання припускається більше п’яти помилок або під час виконання тесту половина відповідей виявляються неправильними.

3.      Отримавши загадку, команда має максимально швидко її відгадати, тобто визначити місце свого призначення і швидко до нього дістатися. Там вона отримує завдання, виконавши які команда одержує нову загадку і йде до нового місця  призначення. Протягом змагань команди по черзі пройдуть через однакові кабінети - «станції» і виконають однакові завдання. Перемога залежатиме від швидкості кожної команди та від якості виконання завдань.

4.      Коли команда заходить до кабінету - «станції», учасники мають ввічливо попросити дозволу і сказати пароль, наприклад:

-May we come in?

-Yes, you may. Say the password.

-“To be or not to be, that is the question”.

Пароль команда отримує разом із загадкою. Вимовляти пароль має вся команда.

5.      Члени команди мають поводитися пристойно, тому що за грубість команда може втратити « золоту фішку».

6.      Порада! Скористайтеся своєю винахідливістю, здогадливістю, розумом. Спробуйте отримати задоволення! Не забувайте, що це - гра!

Після виконання всіх завдань команди повертаються до старту. Підбиваються підсумки, підраховуються «золоті фішки», враховується час виконання завдань і,таким чином, з’ясовується, хто стає переможцем.
